Our Curriculum

At SOMA, founder Mrs Servet Elgun uses her experience as a qualified Early Childhood and Primary school teacher to prepare and oversee all learning programs.

Our goal in terms of learning programs is is to prepare the children for school with the implementation of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) as well as the influence of the NSW School Curriculum Outcomes for Early Stage 1.

Our Pillars for Learning

SOMA 3 C's

Curiosity

We encourage children to explore, ask questions, and engage with the world around them through play and discovery.

Courage

Children are supported to build confidence, try new things, and develop independence in a safe and nurturing environment.

Connection

Strong relationships are at the center of everything we do, helping children feel secure, supported, and ready to learn.

OUR APPROACH

How We Help Your Children Learn

Our curriculum blends play, connection and gentle guidance to help every child grow with confidence at their own pace.

Play-Based Learning

Play is an important part of how children learn and develop. Through guided play and hands-on experiences, children build creativity, communication and problem-solving skills in a way that feels engaging and natural.

Rather than following a single educational theory, our programs draw influence from a range of respected child development theorists such as Montessori, Regilio Emilia, Vygotsky, Piaget and Gardner to name a few. This allows us to create a balanced and responsive learning environment that recognises the whole child and supports  their cognitive, social, emotional, physical and creative development.

Emotional and Social Development

SOMA is a safe, supportive environment where children feel valued, respected and confident to express themselves. Through meaningful interactions with both the Educators and their peers, we support children to build empathy, resilience, independance and positive connections within themselves and with others.

School Readiness

We use the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to help each child develop their knowledge, interests, and strengths:

  • Genuine school readiness aligned with NSW Early Stage 1 Outcomes
  • A continous learning journey each lesson building on the last
  • 20+ years of expertise from our Centre Director, a former Primary School Teacher

Together, this gives children the skills, confidence and foundations for a successful transition to school.

Educator-Guided Learning

Our educators play an active role in guiding development through observation, encouragement and meaningful learning experiences tailored to each child’s stage and needs.

Our Centre Director, who brings over 20 years industry experience as both an Early Childhood and Primary School Teacher, provides weekly one-on-one learning sessions with children through personalised educational programs and school readiness lessons.
